Before choosing a unit, it is important to understand the differences between the two most common mobile air conditioning systems. Each has its specific strengths depending on the application.
In a monoblock unit, all components are housed within a single casing. Warm room air is drawn in, cooled, and the extracted heat is expelled outside via an exhaust hose (typically through a window gap). These units require no installation whatsoever and are ready for immediate use. They can be moved flexibly from room to room and are ideally suited for short-term deployment in smaller spaces. The drawbacks are slightly louder operation (compressor inside the room) and reduced efficiency due to warm air being drawn back in.
Split air conditioning units consist of two separate components: an indoor unit that cools the room air and an outdoor unit that dissipates the heat. Both are connected by flexible refrigerant lines. The greatest advantage is the very quiet operation indoors, as the compressor is located outside. Split units also offer significantly higher cooling capacity and energy efficiency. The limitations are that the outdoor unit must be positioned and a brief commissioning process following an initial briefing is required.
