Heat Load Guide: How to find the right rental air conditioner

Heat load factors

Wärmelastfaktoren

How external and internal heat sources determine your cooling requirements

The room temperature is significantly influenced by various heat sources. The more of these factors are present in your premises, the more powerful the air conditioning unit needs to be in order to create a comfortable indoor climate.

The most important factors include:

  • Technical equipment (servers, computers, machinery)
  • There are many active people in the area
  • South or south-west facing premises
  • Persistently high outdoor temperatures
  • Top-floor flats or large windows

Room size and power requirements

The interplay between room size and heat load

The rule of thumb for air conditioning is that the required cooling capacity is determined by a combination of the room size and the specific heat load. A 30-square-metre office containing servers and large south-facing windows requires a significantly more powerful air conditioning unit than a bedroom of the same size that is shaded.

By assessing your specific heat load and the size of the room, we will work with you to find the perfect rental unit for your individual needs.

Rapid cooling vs. sustainable cooling

Use the heat load calculation and room size to find the right rental unit for your specific needs.

Sustainable cooling rather than short-term fixes

A common mistake when using air conditioning is not leaving the units on for long enough. When temperatures are high, it is not just the air that heats up, but also the walls, furniture and the entire building structure.

Although short-term cooling does lower the air temperature, this is not enough to achieve a lasting result. The premises should be cooled over a longer period so that the building structure and fixtures and fittings also cool down. Only then can the cooling effect be sustained for a long time and remain consistent.
