The size of a room alone says little about how much cooling capacity a room actually requires. The decisive factor is what is known as the heat load – that is, the total of all heat sources affecting a room.

These include, amongst other things, the building’s orientation, the size and number of windows, the number of people present, and technical equipment such as computers, servers or machinery. The more of these factors are present, the higher the heat load – and the more powerful the air conditioning unit needs to be.
